5/8" diameter steel bars with the crown welded to the legs. The crown is connected to a heavy steel support frame that stands behind the wicket. Two steel bars, 2" square by 12" long, provide weight (40 lbs.) for stability One of these bars is elevated and located directly behind wicket crown, the other is 12" behind the wicket and rests on the rug, as do the wicket uprights. The lower bar has a sponge rubber backstop to cushion the impact of the balls. A 1/8"diameter threaded rod connects the two uprights 5" below crown. By adjusting nuts on this rod the clearance between uprights can be changed to any desired clearance on ball, and rod is high enough to provide adequate clearance above balls passing through the wicket.
